About

華風藝術中心專營中國藝術與古文物，主要項目包括宋瓷，明瓷，佛雕，鎏金，及古玉等。華風於千禧年由譚崇憲先生與夫人呂美蓮女士成立於台北。譚先生與夫人收藏中國藝術近四十餘年，他們跟隨任世龍及張浦生教授學習陶瓷，拜訪古窯址遺蹟，也曾伴同任世龍教授為兩岸著名博物館館藏鑒定年代，包括有幸上手多件台北故宮的珍貴汝窯。

譚崇憲先生也是獲獎無數的藝術家和設計師。 (http://TanChungHsiang.com) 他的設計作品包括中華民國立法院院徽與多間著名企業商標，繪畫作品參與多次展覽並於2012年在台北國父記念館的德明藝廊發表近作的大型個展。譚先生對藝術的熱愛與專業結合他對歷史與藝術製作過程的豐富知識成就了他看文物藝術獨到且精準的眼力及品味。在成立華風之前，他曾擔任多間台灣大型企業的藝術顧問。

藝術與收藏豐富了譚先生與夫人的生活，他們期望華風藝術中心不只是一個買賣藝術文物的地方，更是一個藝術愛好者可以聚集分享經驗與知識的文化中心。他們不定時舉辦活動及邀請各地專家做專題講座：如台北歷史博物館成耆仁博士的「唐三彩」講座；南京博物院張浦生教授的「元、明、清青花瓷」講座；畫廊協會理事長黃承志先生的「繪畫之鑑定與收藏」講座；和浙江省文物考古研究所任世龍教授的「越窯和龍泉窯」系列講座等。

Hua Fong Art Center specializes in Chinese works of art, with a focus on ceramics from Song and Ming dynasties, Buddhist sculptures, gilt-bronzes, and archaic jades. It was founded in 2000 by Mr. Tan Chung Hsiang (a.k.a. C. S. Tan) and his wife Mrs. Lu Meilian, whom have been collecting Chinese art and antiques for over forty years. They studied Chinese ceramics under Professor Ren Shi Long and Zhang Pu Sheng, visiting kiln sites, and accompanied Professor Ren Shi Long to consult collections of several major museums in both China and Taiwan, where they had the opportunity to inspect and exam rare items including several Ru wares in The National Palace Museum in Taiwan.

Mr. Tan Chung Hsiang is also a renowned artist and designer (http://TanChungHsiang.com). He has won numerous awards, and designed many familiar logos for Taiwanese institutions, such as the Legislative Yuan (the parliament of Taiwan). In 2012, an in-depth solo exhibition of his paintings was mounted in the De-Ming Gallery of The National Sun Yat-Sen Memorial Hall. Mr. Tan's passion and deep understanding towards art, together with his expansive knowledge in art making process and Chinese history, provided foundation for his discriminating taste and discerning eye. Prior to opening Hua Fong, he also served as an advisor and art consultant for several corporate collections in Taiwan.

Enriched by their own journey in collecting, Mr. and Mrs. Tan set out to make Hua Fong Art Center more than just a place to buy and sell art. They envisioned it to be a cultural hub where art lovers can exchange and share their knowledge and experiences. They often organize and host events and invite experts for lecture series. Some highlights from past events includes lecture series of "Tang Sancai" by Dr. Sung Kee In of The National Museum of History in Taipei; "Blue-and-White Ceramics of Yuan, Ming, and Qing Dynasties" by Professor Zhang Pu Sheng of Nanjing Museum; "Collecting Chinese Paintings and Its Authentication" by Mr. Huang Cheng-Chih, Chairman of Taiwan Art Gallery Association; and "Yue & Longquan Wares" by Professor Ren Shi Long of Zhejiang Provincial Cultural Relics Archaeological Research Institute to name a few.
